Hello everybody ,
I am a new member of the group. I've got a 1 year old
i2 recently with extended warrantee period (anotehr 6 months),
upgrade etc. I am not familiar with this instriument at all.
I had few keyboards before but never took a risk to
buy a professional workstation because they are usually very
expensive. Anyway, now I have it already few weeks and doing
my best to learn it asap.
I have already had several discussion with Mark Robson
about which is which in i2/i3.
There is one problem with my i2 and I hope you may have
some ideas how to solve it.
The former owner of my i2 has been using HD floppies.
He apparently upgraded i2 with a latest version (still
unkown!) so now I have 32 User styles instead of 4+2.
Actually, I cannot access to these files (well, i don't
know how!) in ARR mode using ARR/STyle (data entry) keys.
These keys allow me to "see" only 4+2 user styles (as
normally). But in Edit Style mode I can access to the
32 user styles numbered as 11,12,13,14,21,22,23,24,...81,82,83.84.
I have got a manual of upgrage titled "for ROM versions 50 and
higher". However, I found nothing there.
So, how to access these styles from ARR mode using
ARR/Style(data entry ) keys ?
I guess because of this latest ROM version (which has
all features of ROM 58 upgrade) I have problems reading
styles from floppies. Often I cannot "Load All Data"
and I find on LCD "Can't read a disk". Floppies are OK.
It happened that I could "Load All data" from the floppy
after I have formatted ANOTHER blank floppy. Its still
very complex and I could not find WHEN I can load all data
and when I can't! I did several experiments but still
nothing is clear...
I guess often I don't have enough room to lead styles but
instead of writing this on LCD i2 writes "can't read a disk".
It happened that for the same floppy it gave "can't read
a disk" and the next day I could load all data from that!
So its very confusing. Of course, i have done other
experiments between these two tests but does it really matter ?
I mean I cannot figure out IF/weather I did something
which allowed later to read the floppy and load all data.
This happened with both HD and DD floppies!
Finally, when I am trying to "Load all data" I have
some notes on the LCD which are not explained in the
manual. We go to DISK mode, first page and we have Load All.
On the bottom we have File:- - - LOAD
On my LCD I have File:- - - B:A LOAD
I can change B:A from B:A (which means load all user
style as it appears on the top of the LCD) to B:1,B:2,--B:8.
But I don't understand why this appears in Load ALL page ?
What means B:A ?
Then, if I go the page Load One, and try to load one
style I'll have on my LCD
File:- - - - STYLE:U1 -> U01 LOAD
This is also something new.
File:- - - - obviosuly shows what I have on the floppy.
As soon as I go to STYLE:U1 I find another note on
the TOP of the LCD showing all user styles which can be
changed from 1 to 32 ! (as I said you have thme in Edity
Style).
I am continuing tests but still could not find an answer
to the main question:
Why sometime I can ready a floppy and sometime not ?
If you have any ideas please let me know.
Best regards
Garik
